Mud?!?!?! Porqué???!?!?

Well, I want to look into adding some mud...but mud is tricky....mud is more of a shader trick than a texture trick. I need to look into something that has some (of the illusion of) sss and has a nice gloss over it for that wet look.

I may have to even model some low poly smooth normaled mud to make things a little more convincing. Nonetheless...if I have this side view done by the end of the week, im still on schedule.

hmm mud is a hard thing to do. if you want it all over the wagon ud need to make some new custom "splash" maps and map them over all ur textures.
if u really want to do mud on the wagon u should try and read up if Maya can do projections or decals. not sure what theyre actually called in maya. but basically u can project a texture and alpha over all geo. this may be tricky and take a lot of time.

another method. i would suggest u unwrap ur wagon on another channel and create a mud layer.

i think you should maybe forget the mud. im not sure the payoff is worth it. if anything do a small model after the wagon is done. maybe an old tractor tire laying against a tree stump by a mud field. and texture the tire, stump and ground with a mud splash. as if a tractor just passed by splashing ur piece. this can be very simple. just a log, tire, ground and a blue sky. you can call it "Mud study" but im getting ahead of myself.

so for the wagon, do what u feel will better the piece at this time. that might mean only adding some slight mud tracks on the ground.

peace

ohh yeah.

the side view looks great. i like the tattered cloth and the wood unwraps. the left branch looks pretty cool too man. the canvas looks great with the mild run down dirt. Kablamo
