Either it'll move you, or it will move right through you. Fully and completely.
Tried toning down the metal part a little. You're right, it does look better...but theres still something off.
-Maybe the rez is to low? -Maybe the mesh is too perfect?
Back to the drawing board

- the spec is the same on the rust and metal. should be shinier on the metal.
- i think its still missing some slight colour changes. theres no dirt and grime.
- wear and tear. this is modelling and some texture passes. add a dent and such here and there. nothing crazy just slight. make the edges less perfect. chamfer some edges and make areas appear flat on the edges. Painting in a layer of custom scratches and things will help too. maybe even some layer peeling.
